Senior Platform Engineer
Role
Location: Zürich, Switzerland
Seniority: 6+ years relevant industry experience
Join Synthara’s software team and own the virtual platforms for ComputeRAM®. These platforms serve as reference systems for pre-silicon software prototyping and HW/SW co-verification. They must be accurate, usable, and continuously validated. You sit between hardware and software. Your job is to make both sides work together and expose issues early.
What you’ll do
- Build and maintain full-system simulation platforms: ComputeRAM® + MCU cores + interconnect + DMA + peripherals, using SystemC, FPGA, VCS, Renode
- Work with Hardware to: Integrate RTL models into simulators and develop low-level firmware for hardware validation and stress testing
- Work with Software to: Provide stable development targets and enable bring-up, debugging, and performance evaluation
- Develop: Low-level drivers and system bring-up code and reference firmware for validation and demos
- Own verification infrastructure: Firmware-based test suites, cross-platform validation and CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing
- Proactively identify and resolve HW/SW integration issues
- Evaluate and introduce new tools and methodologies for platform development
Tools & Technologies
- Programming and Modeling: SystemVerilog, C, C++, SystemC, Python
- FPGA prototyping: AMD/Xilinx platforms and Vivado
- RTL simulation: Synopsys VCS
- Virtual Platform & System simulation: Renode, Synopsys Platform
- Architect Development & Automation: Git, GitHub, CI/CD,GitHub Actions
Outcomes (first 12–18 months)
- Usable, well-documented virtual platforms for software development
- Consistent execution of the same firmware across VCS, FPGA, and Renode
- Firmware-based verification covering key system behaviours
- CI infrastructure that flags HW/SW integration issues early
- Reduced time-to-bring-up for new platform configurations
- Reliable reference environment for internal teams and customers
Profile
- Strong embedded systems background (C/C++, firmware, drivers)
- Experience with simulators, FPGA prototyping, and system bring-up
- Comfortable working across HW/SW boundaries
- Debugs at system level, not just component level
- Bias for ownership and problem resolution
What success looks like
Any change in hardware or software can be validated quickly on a full-system platform, and issues are caught already at simulation stage.
